Our second beautiful daughter was born January 10, 2013, at 8:11am. 7lbs, 4 ounces, she looks so similar to her big sister, only slightly larger at birth.
I arrived home this past Sunday and, quite frankly, the last week has been a blur. Nursing is going relatively well (I must be doing something right; Gemma compared me to an “animal”); sleep is elusive; big sister is in love, and adjusting. And despite the midnight feedings and sleepless nights, I feel happy. Our family of four seems complete.
Of course, being a second time parent is entirely new to me. And as I move forward in motherhood, I’m beginning to realize how fleeting certain stages are; particularly the moments you want to savor. I’ve been told the second child grows even FASTER (how is it possible?) than the first. Gemma’s first four years passed in what feels like a flash. I’m still not sure when my first baby became such a big girl. That being said, I’m indulging in every second of this newborn phase with the understanding that it won’t last forever; the snuggles, the smells, just holding her – it’s all delicious.

Congrats! Our seconds are only a month and 4 days apart (if we must be exact)! It does go by incredibly fast, but I think I appreciate it much more this go around.
