We don’t get away much, as a family, these days. Often it just seems too chaotic to pack up Peanut, all her paraphernalia, and head to a hotel. Of course, as she gets older travel is getting a bit easier and we’re starting to venture out of our comfort zone (just as we’re about to enter the baby stage, again, of course).
Two summers ago, I had the opportunity to spend a night at the Marriott Residence Inn, Times Square (sans child) and had a fabulous time. Last spring Marriott Residence Inn approached me and asked that I be part of the Residence Mom Club – It’s quite an honor; and along with the title I get the opportunity to check out some great (kid friendly!) hotels throughout the United States.
In early October my husband and I decided to take advantage of the beautiful fall weather we experienced this year, and go apple picking north of New York City. To break up the trip we booked a room at the Residence Inn in Yonkers. We thought it would be fun for Peanut to make a little trip out of the weekend and stay in a hotel (which I always found exciting as a child).
We arrived on Friday afternoon and had the opportunity to spend some time in our room (complete with gas fireplace!). It was clean, huge, and with a bedroom suite offered the utmost in convenience (particularly when you have a child you’d like to put to bed early). That night we visited Hastings on Hudson, an adorable little town and ate at a yummy and picturesque restaurant called “Harvest on Hudson”. Peanut loved the entire experience, even exclaiming “we’re having a lot of fun!” (I even had the opportunity to work out in the fitness room that night!) The following day we were able to indulge in a complimentary breakfast (including waffles!) and join our friends apple picking after just a short drive. A full and enjoyable weekend, indeed.
Once again Marriott Residence Inn provided a comfortable and stress-free venue for traveling with a pre-schooler. I can’t wait for our next getaway!

One of the WORST experiences of my entire life was in a hotel room with two three-year-olds. I even saw my normally unflappable husband lose his temper. What could happen that made this such a nightmare, I hear you ask?! Two words: night terrors. Over-tired little girls + waaaaay too much stimulations = screaming inconsolably for a half-hour. Each. ((shudder))
Glad to hear y’all had such a nice time. Consider yourself very, very lucky, m’dear!
This looks like such a nice getaway! I ‘m loving your photos too – especially the one of Peanut and mama. xx
