I had the opportunity to spend the entire day with Gemma – what a treat. She doesn’t often get me entirely to herself – nor I her. My husband’s schedule means I’m frequently with both kids on the weekend, and weekdays are filled with school, schedules, and places to be. Sunday morning we had tickets to the Radio City Rockette’s Christmas Spectacular (the high-kickers, according to her little group of friends). Sunday afternoon we spent time at the Central Park Zoo (despite a sprinkling of rain), and grabbed an early dinner.
She wore a gown. Any why not? What I wouldn’t give to be in the moment where a pile of fluff and sequins means the world in magic.
I’ve been trying to re-purpose as many items in my closet as possible. I wore this skirt back in the summer and was pleased to see it also works with tights and a sweater.
We got home late; our return trip was a little tricky because of trains not running on certain lines and an emergency bathroom trip that required actually leaving the platform. But she was so good. And I realized how important these times – however infrequent – are for her (and me).
